Weekly Meeting; Topic: The Amazing Shake

The Ron Clark Academy (RCA), a prestigious middle school in Atlanta, held their second installment of the National Amazing Shake Competition in February; it was a weekend dedicated to cultivating the skills needed for students to be successful in a professional environment.
At its core, the Academy is a school that places an emphasis on teaching students manners, discipline, and respect. By teaching students about the mechanics of giving a proper handshake and conversing with professionals, RCA aims to provide the tools for students to present themselves exceptionally well for opportunities today and in the future.
Over 265 students representing 21 states in the U.S. and the countries of Honduras and Nigeria convened upon RCA’s campus in February to experience the challenge and represent on behalf of their respective schools.
Kathryn Strong’s daughter, Olivia, as well as Isabella Hibbard and Ava Hesson, were all winners at Union Elementary and advanced to the nationals and were worthy contestants.
“All of them were 10 (years old) during the competition,” Strong said, “and they went up against children older than them, and they all made it to the finals. They showed a whole lot of poise — I know of adults who couldn’t do what they did. These ‘soft skills’ will help them land jobs and be successful.'”
Please come welcome these young ladies who will be the future of our beloved city.
